iOS 14, First Looks

View this on www.kylewilkinsonblog.com to see images and a more detailed look. Yesterday Apple hosted their Annual WWDC Keynote where they revealed the latest update to the worlds best mobile operating system with iOS 14. Since the announcement I’ve been doing some research on the latest for it as well as exploring the OS on my iPhone so here’s my thoughts. Redesigned Home screen One of the most noticeable new changes is the ability to add widgets to you home screen. Obviously this is a feature Android has had for years and some might say its an overdue feature but personally I think Apple is right waiting to get the design right.  It’s nice being able to easily see my Activity (Sorry Fitness) Rings as well as being able to see the current temperature. I think it would be nice if I could make a little smaller so that it would show just the current temperature like Apple Watch Complications. The one which you see on my bottom right displaying music is actually a “Sma...

Harry Potters Wizards Unite - One Year On

Visit my main blog here on www.kylewilkinsonblog.com Harry Potter Wizards Unite - One Year On!  This week Niantic’s most recent game turns one year old. Harry Potters Wizards unite was released on the 21st of June 2019 for Android and iOS devices. Having been a fan of Niantic’s other two similar games Pokémon Go and Ingress (Now named Ingress Prime) I decided to write my first ever review of something. Now one year on I’d thought I would take a second look at how the game has got on with its first year live. Looking back at my original review one year ago I was disappointed with the games similarity to Pokémon GO as well as the expensive In-App purchase options. I mentioned that I was going to give the game ago in the summer and not give up on it. So, it’s about time I ask the question. Is the game still worth playing? Yes. I actually got into the game and still do play it. I can’t say I’m into it as much as Pokémon GO but over time I have been ...

May Activity Watch Journal

May Activity Watch Journal Hello and welcome to the 5th entry in my Activity Journal which I started in January. This month Boris relaxed the lockdown measures a little allowing us to exercise with friends as long as we were socially distanced from each other. Knowing this there was a couple of Strava challenges I wanted to complete whilst I still had some extra free time and not being able to travel to more parkruns but first I had to complete my monthly Apple Watch activity challenge. GOAL ACHIEVED – MAY CHALLENGE This month I had to walk or run 130.6 Miles. This is an average of 4.21 Miles a day and I achieved the goal on the 26th of May. If you remember back in February, I had a similar challenge, but I had to go 167.0 Miles so it’s interesting how the watch has noticed I’ve been moving less because of the lockdown. Strava Challenge Complete! – My first ever half marathon. At the start of the month when I was looking through the challenges ...
