Nintendos Mario Kart Tour - A Review

You might say that I’m late to the party for writing a review on a game that was released over two weeks ago, but I wanted to wait deliberately so I could see how the game would come along and how did it do?

The Gameplay -

Any one familiar with Mario kart will recognise the familiar characters and familiar boxes that give you items. You complete races, earning points as you complete the races and you get different points depending on tricks you do and which carts or person you pick.

The more points you get the more stars per race you get up to the maximum of 5 stars per race. Simple so far, per cup there is three races and one special event which is different time. You need stars to unlock the new cups and that’s where the challenge comes in.

You can get new karts and characters through the store using the pipes or by using the coins you collect in races. This way you can get more points per race.

All downhill from here –

First of all, the game is played in portrait mode which is a bit disappointing, but you do get used to it. Sometimes in can be a bit difficult handling the karts which is annoying however there is two different driving modes.

Mario Kart Tour is a free to download game, but you wouldn’t expect a game this cool by Nintendo to be completely free would you. The pricing however of the games in app purchases are very questionable. Want to race 200cc of course you do!! You get extra points and its faster this however costs £4.99, What only £4.99 when the game is free that’s not to bad. Oh no that’s £4.99 per month.

Yes, PER MONTH. £4.99 per month gets you the Gold Pass, with this you get more rewards each time you unlock them, and you get 200cc Racing. Not much more then that. Now, you want to unlock more karts its okay you can use 5 gems to fire a pipe in your hopes you may get the kart you want! But oh no you’ve got only 1 gem L.

I’ve got some spare credit in my iTunes account don’t mind spending some more. Just £1.99 for 3 Gems. Not that you can actually do anything with 3 gems, so you’ll have to buy 10 gems for £5.99 Incredibly cheeky don’t you think Nintendo.

So, what’s it like after two weeks?

The game was very fun to play, I was hooked racing the tracks and using my shells to battle my way through the other racers. However, I Still currently have two cups locked and I need 14 stars to open them. I have at least 4 stars on all my other races I have completed and what’s worse is during this time I have been using the two weeks Gold pass trial!!

To Summarise:

Mario Kart Tour is a good game but I have gotten bored of it, feel like there’s nothing left to do and with the Gold pass for £4.99 per month they seriously need to bring more advantages to it with the likes of Apple Arcade being released the same month for the same price I cant see the Gold pass being insanely popular but only time will tell. For now, I will wait and see if more cool stuff will come.

Hands On WatchOS 6 - An Opinion

Good morning, Along with iOS 13, Apple announced WatchOS 6 at WWDC. The Apple Watch is one of my favorite Apple products. This year they announced several new features and below I talk about some of the new upcoming features with the Update. New Watch faces This year we see 5 new watch faces join us, These are Solar Dial, Gradient, California, Numeral Duo / Mono and Modular compact. My personal favorite watch face to use is the Infograph modular. It’s so useful being able to see this much information all from my wrist and I use it all the time because of that I can see the Modular compact being the most useful for me out of the new watch faces. This new face allows either an analogue or digital clock along with 2 circular complications and one big complication at the bottom that is similar to the one of the Infograph modular. For those of you who love to simply look at the time on your wrist the Gradient and Numerals Duo / Mono will be great for you. They both only te...

My First 10 parkruns at 10 different parkruns.

This post looks better on Kyle Wilkinson Online - Check It out here ->   https://www.kylewilkinsononline.com/post/my-first-10-parkruns-at-10-different-parkruns This week I’m writing a slightly different post. It’s all about parkrun, if you haven’t already heard of it it’s where you complete a 5K organized timed run for free and last year I finally completed my first 10, at 10 different locations. This little post is my journey on my first 10 parkruns. 1.       Blackpool (32:35) I actually did my first parkrun all the way back in 2017 in what the most northern parkrun is currently I have done. I got a time of 32:35 and the main reason I did it was to prove a point. You do not need to buy special clothes to do running. So yes, I wore a T-shirt and a pair of black jeans whilst doing this run. I didn’t think it was too bad. The biggest irony of it is since this I have in fact purchased running shoes, a pair of shorts and a running t-shirt....

iOS 13 - Hands on! (An opinion)

Good evening,  This is my hands on write up of iOS 13. At the moment I have iOS 13 Developer Beta 01 installed on my iPhone X and have been running it for about a week and a half, First let’s look at the key new features. You can check out my gallery of screenshots at the bottom of the post. Dark Mode The one everyone has been asking for, In my opinion dark mode took so long to arrive because of Apples key eye to detail. Every screen, every button and every character has been redesigned and optimized to look its best for the greatest mobile operating system in the world. As you can see in the pictures below the dark mode is applied system wide and can be easily configured to come on automatically with sunset and sunrise or it can be manually triggered in the control center in the same place as you would for Night Shift or True Tone. Reminders Reminders was completely rebuilt from the ground up! With a new more organized home screen. The app automatically groups y...
